Duisburg United wins Kamerliga championship

Duisburg united wins

The Kamerliga championship was decided on saturday the 30th of August 2008 when the disciplined team of Duisburg( Duisburg United) trashed last placed Opopo of Wuppertal by 3-0. The game however started, 2 hrs after schedule as the team from Wuppertal appeared only after 15:00 for a match scheduled at 13:00. Duisburg United had to wait for their opponents. In the end, the Duisburg players asked to win the match by forfeiture, but after some deliberations, play was allowed.

When play started, Duisburg United immediately went on the offensive, earning a penalty which was easily converted by Charles(1-0). The match picked up steam with Wuppertal on the defensive. Wuppertal could however not overcome the ferocity of the Duisburg attack. Result, 3-0 in favour of Duisburg United.

In the second game, Düsseldorf won by 3-0 (forfeiture) as the Essen team, through one of their delegates, withdrew their participation in the game. The team gave as reason, the fact that the Kamerliga committee refused to grant a delegate's request that Essen get all three points from the previous game with Wuppertal( 1-1 ). The committee voted overwhelmingly to not subtract points(but maintain the points at game's end) from both teams which had involved in unsportly behaviour, stopping the game at 2 minutes to the end with the score of 1-1. It was an unfortunate situation in which the team from Essen showed behaviour that was not good for the game.

Trophies shall be handed over during the Kamerliga party on september 13th.

Day 5 Kamerliga action in Essen sees chaotic end

next game As the struggle for leadership becomes very highly competitive in a three-team show, emotions also got very high and out of control.

In the first game, Duisburg united and ACD Düsseldorf separated on a 1-1 tie. The match was interrupted for more than twenty minutes when, the Düsseldorf team staged a walk out in protest of a replacement of the second linesman whom they deemed partial. After a lot of emotional exchange of words and negotiations, the linesman was replaced and the game was continued. The score however remained unchanged.

In the second game, the Essen team had hoped to capitalize on the tie of the first game to easily defeat last placed Wuppertal. The game took a different turn when Wuppertal opened scores. Schocked, Essen fought their way back and were awared a penalty which they easily transformed to tie at 1-1. Minutes later, a foul play by an Essen player led to a physical display of unsportly nature and the game was stopped two minutes to the end.

The Kamerliga commitee met and decided that both teams retain the score of 1-1 as the match was almost ending. Some players were suspended for a match each and Anelka(of Essen) has been banned from the competition.

The next game shall take place in Düsseldorf on the 30.08.2008

Duisburg and Düsseldorf win. League tighter than ever

next game

Duisburg and Düsseldorf win to join Essen at the top as Wuppertal buries all hopes of the title.

The constellation of KamerLiga Day 4 was an interesting one, as a series of results could go Essen's way and see them pull off with a 6 point lead with two games to go, a setup which would all but secure them the title. Essen would come to Wuppertal with this in mind, but Duisburg would have other Ideas. An interesting game.

It was the last chance for Wuppertal to keep up their chances of remaining in contention, as anything less than a win, would virtually end their chances of even taking second place. Would they show us their magic at home?
