As the struggle for leadership becomes very highly competitive in a three-team show, emotions also got very high and out of control.
In the first game, Duisburg united and ACD Düsseldorf separated on a 1-1 tie. The match was interrupted for more than twenty minutes when, the Düsseldorf team staged a walk out in protest of a replacement of the second linesman whom they deemed partial. After a lot of emotional exchange of words and negotiations, the linesman was replaced and the game was continued. The score however remained unchanged.
In the second game, the Essen team had hoped to capitalize on the tie of the first game to easily defeat last placed Wuppertal. The game took a different turn when Wuppertal opened scores. Schocked, Essen fought their way back and were awared a penalty which they easily transformed to tie at 1-1. Minutes later, a foul play by an Essen player led to a physical display of unsportly nature and the game was stopped two minutes to the end.
The Kamerliga commitee met and decided that both teams retain the score of 1-1 as the match was almost ending. Some players were suspended for a match each and Anelka(of Essen) has been banned from the competition.
The next game shall take place in Düsseldorf on the 30.08.2008
The constellation of KamerLiga Day 4 was an interesting one, as a series of results could go Essen's way and see them pull off with a 6 point lead with two games to go, a setup which would all but secure them the title. Essen would come to Wuppertal with this in mind, but Duisburg would have other Ideas. An interesting game.
It was the last chance for Wuppertal to keep up their chances of remaining in contention, as anything less than a win, would virtually end their chances of even taking second place. Would they show us their magic at home?
